Files, Media and Audio

Photos, PDFs and voice memos are not just attachments in Skava — they stay in the project context and are easy to find later. The attachment menu also bundles much more than just files.

The Attachment Menu

Tap the plus icon in the chat input field. A menu opens with everything you can add to a message:

  • Attach File — PDFs, plans, documents.
  • Photo/Video — recordings from your library.
  • Send Location — share your current location.
  • Create Task List — a task list directly in the chat.
  • Create Service Item — record a service item provided.
  • Custom Element — a freely defined element.
  • Request Payment — send a payment request.

Create Service Item requires the chat to be linked to a company. If no company is set up yet, Skava will let you know. First create a profile and a company.

Photos and Files

Right next to the text field is the camera icon — use it to take a photo and share it immediately. Job site photos, damage documentation or material shots stay assigned to the project. Skava also collects all images and documents from a chat under Media & Files in the chat settings.

Voice Memo Instead of Typing

On the right side of the input field is the microphone icon. A voice memo is recorded on the job site in 20 seconds — faster and safer than typing with gloves on.

Here is how to record a voice memo:

  1. In a chat, tap the microphone icon on the right side of the input field.
  2. The recording view opens with a running timer and a waveform display showing that Skava is listening.
  3. Tap Send to post the memo to the chat, or Cancel to discard the recording.

Skava automatically transcribes the sent memo so the text can be skimmed and searched later. From recognized service items, Skava can suggest a task directly; read more under Service Items and Tasks.

Tip: When recording a memo, speak quantities and units clearly ("twelve square meters", "three hours"). This greatly improves automatic recognition.

Web App and Mobile App

Skim transcripts, compare multiple documents side by side, review images on a large display — the web app is your analysis workstation.

If a file belongs to the project, do not send it in a direct message — otherwise the team will be missing it later.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I attach a file or photo in Skava?

Tap the plus icon in the chat input field and select "Attach File" or "Photo/Video". For an immediate shot, use the camera icon to the right of the text field.

How do I record a voice memo?

In a chat, tap the microphone icon on the right side of the input field. The recording view opens with a timer and waveform display. Tap Send to post the memo to the chat, or Cancel to discard it. Skava automatically transcribes sent memos so the content is readable and searchable as text later.

Can I cancel a voice memo recording?

Yes. During recording, discard the memo with Cancel — it will not be posted to the chat. Only with Send does the recording appear in the chat.

What can I add through the plus icon in the chat?

The attachment menu offers: attach file, photo/video, send location, create task list, create service item, custom element and request payment.

Why can't I create a service item?

"Create Service Item" only works if the chat is linked to a company. First create a company in your profile. Skava will otherwise show the message "No company linked".
