Messages and Organization

Writing is one half. The other is that the information remains findable later and doesn't disappear in the chat history. Skava gives you a few simple tools for that.

Send a message

Open a subchat or direct message. At the bottom you'll find the input line with four elements: on the left the plus icon for attachments, in the middle the text field, to the right of it the camera icon and the microphone icon. As soon as you type text, the blue Send arrow appears.

At the top of the chat you see the name of the chat and below it the participants. Your own messages appear on the right, messages from others on the left. Under each message is the time.

In the top right of the header is the DE button. Skava uses it to translate the chat into your language — helpful for multilingual teams on the construction site.

React to a message

Long-press on a message (hold down). A menu opens with two parts:

  • At the top a bar with emoji reactions (thumbs up, confetti, smiley, heart, wrench, octopus) and a plus for more emojis.
  • Below that the actions Reply, Copy and Mark as unread.

Write cleanly

  • Stay on topic — before writing, quickly check if you're in the right subchat.
  • Reply to the specific message — using "Reply" keeps a question anchored exactly where it belongs.
  • Use reactions sparingly — a reaction is good for signaling "seen" or "done", but doesn't replace a substantive reply.
  • Mark as unread — if you can't answer a message right now, mark it as unread so it doesn't get lost.

If something is permanently relevant to the project, it doesn't belong in a direct message. That way the knowledge remains findable for the whole team.

Webapp and Mobile App

On the large screen you can see reply references and attached files more easily in context. Editing and cleaning up longer conversations is more comfortable here.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I react to a message in Skava?

Long-press the message (hold down). At the top a bar with emoji reactions like thumbs up or heart appears; a plus opens more emojis. Your reaction then appears as a small badge on the message.

How do I reply to a specific message?

Long-press the message and select Reply in the menu. Your answer will then be visibly linked to the original message — the question stays in context.

What actions do I have per message on my phone?

After long-pressing, Reply, Copy and Mark as unread are available in the mobile app, plus the emoji reactions.

Can Skava translate messages?

Yes. Using the DE button in the top right of the chat header, Skava translates the chat into your language. This is especially helpful for multilingual teams on the construction site.

What does "Mark as unread" mean?

It sets an already opened message back to unread. This way it remains visible in the "Unread" filter and doesn't get lost if you can't answer it right now.
